How it works

All compression runs locally in your browser using an open-source FFmpeg WebAssembly engine. The first time you compress, your browser downloads the engine from a public CDN and caches it; after that, compression keeps working even if you disconnect from the internet. The video you choose is read and processed on your own device and is never transmitted to us or any third party — more detail on the client-side compression page.

Because compression happens on your device, we don't pay for upload bandwidth, video storage or server-side processing — our costs stay close to plain web hosting.
